About Daydev Labs

We are a software engineering studio. We build production systems for other people, and we build products of our own — mostly because operating what you build is the fastest honest feedback there is.

What we do

The client work is platforms, APIs, data pipelines and infrastructure, generally in Go and Rust, generally for teams whose systems already have users and an on-call rota. Greenfield is the easy half. Most of what we are asked to do is the layer underneath something that has become expensive to change.

The product work is two things: a disaster recovery platform that is available now, and NetIDE — a desktop IDE for network engineers — coming soon.

How that shapes the engineering

Three rules we hold to even when they make a demo less impressive:

Ship it observable. Metrics, traces and structured logs are part of the feature, not a follow-up ticket. If it goes out without them, nobody finds out it is degrading until a customer does.

Say where the number came from. Any screen that shows system state should say how fresh it is and where it came from. A console that quietly displays stale data is worse than one that displays nothing, because someone will act on it.

Distinguish failures that need different responses. "The backend is down" and "your session expired" are not the same message, and collapsing them costs somebody twenty minutes when they have none.

Working with us

We prefer engagements that start with the constraint rather than the feature list, produce one thin slice through the whole system early, and end with your team operating what we built without us. A codebase you own is the deliverable. A dependency on us is not.

Where we are

Daydev Labs works from Portugal and serves clients wherever their infrastructure happens to be — including inside networks that never touch the public internet.
